The True Gift
I have found out over the years of giving and receiving, the best gifts I have given and received are the ones that keep on giving over and over each time you use them. With this said, the closer I get to my Lord Jesus Christ, the more I realize He is the greatest gift God has ever given us and the greatest gift we will ever receive. Christmas was not meant for us to be overly busy, worried about not having enough money to spend or worried about what gift we should give one person so another person won't feel like he is getting more or less. I believe each one of us have felt like this one way or another, although we do have a hard time admitting it. Jesus led me into thinking about Him, He has a remarkable way of doing that once we believe with our hearts and mind He is our savior. Once we receive Him as our true gift He will lead you into His true life for you with many gifts. You will begin to understand His Spirit because His Spirit will be within you. You will know the truth about gifts, you will know He never gave anyone a material gift, only the gift of the Spirit. He surely could have given anyone what ever they wanted but the most important gift is the gift of His Spirit. He chose to give the ultimate gift, His life for us all. His gifts are gifts of the Spirit right from Gods heart. His gifts are many;peace, joy, grace, wisdom, knowledge, hope, faith and most of all love. The gift of love from Him we receive and the gift of love for Him we give back. When we give that love back it is blessed back to us to share with others. His gifts have a limitless amount of giving, if we could only learn to receive them. To keep on receiving these limitless gifts we have to give Him our hearts, ourselves, our obedience, our temptations and our desires; all of us, we are all the same to Him. What gifts He gives us in return we can never match, they are priceless and almost unspeakable. They are unimaginable for us sometimes to comprehend. When we begin to feel the fullness of His gifts we find ourselves being drawn into wanting to help others by sharing Him and His gifts.
I am beginning to understand and know what Christmas really means. If we are overly busy, be overly busy for him, then there will be no stress. If we are worried about money; seek Him, He will tell you what to give without any quilt or worry. Don't make your gift of giving something that can rust or be destroyed or something you give only at Christmas. Make your gift from the heart that keeps on giving like His many gifts do for us each day. Before you know it you will have given your total self to Him and to others. Then your true gift He has wanted you to have all along will begin to emerge which is "your true self" He created!
Merry Christmas to all and to all I hope you receive the true gift!
I wrote this Christmas of 2010 and it still holds true today!
