"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall have eternal life."
How many times have you heard this scripture? I have many times. This is most of what my life was built on. I grew up saying there was a Jesus; a father of us all, we call God. I read my Bible a few times growing up, so little I can barely remember reading it. I did not read it to or with my children when they were growing up. I read nursery rhymes and a lot of children's stories like Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pigs, and the Engine that could. I did not read the stories of David, John, Peter, or Moses. I did not understand scripture being a part of us, telling us the reason of our existence. Now I know, now I know the truth. Now when I read this scripture I understand it, I understand what God did for all of us and why He id it. I understand what has to happen within us before we truly believe in Him. We do not have any power in our believing; it comes from God. We ask and then we will receive. You can not believe until you know who He is and why He came. Believing is not just saying you believe, it is knowing what God gives us through His death, that is when we believe in our hearts. To believe begins with His words and the belief grows into an understanding of the words that only God can give you. John the Baptist knew who Jesus was and He knew who God was, in John 3v26 John the Baptist says "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. If you are just starting out trying to understand who Jesus is or who God is, ask God to reveal it to you through His words, ask Him to lead you to Him through His words. Who I truly am, all has come from God, which is why husbands, wives, parents and friends need only to be led by God, not the world to find out who they truly are. Jesus said to the lost Samaritan women at the well, John 4v14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" If your spirit is not growing or like Jesus says welling up, then you have not given your self totally to Him like He gave His self totally to us. He is not asking us to die physically for Him but He is asking us to die in our natural spirit to Him. It is hard to give ourselves up to our Lord to the point His Spirit is welling up inside us, but like Jesus says in John 3v19 This is the verdict:Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. v20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God" It is hard to face the truth about what and who we are, Jesus came to save us from the dark, we can not do it alone. When you come into the light less and less darkness is left until only the light shines through you, and when you are the light of the world everyone will know it came from God, it is the only way it can come. Be ready when you find Him through His words to give your self totally to Him just as He gave Him self totally to us.
