Good morning! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we are testing ourselves on God's definition of greatest.
1 Corinthians 13v13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Most people look at this statement and only see love, and concentrate on that emotion. We begin to love people and created things so much through our own emotions we believe we are pleasing God. Because we love people and what God has created so much we are missing what we need first to receive the greatest which is His love not the love we create. We have to have faith in His love before we can receive His love. Faith and hope in His love comes before His love. We jump ahead and go straight for the greatest and miss what we need to receive the greatest. We have to have faith in God giving us the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ before we receive the Holy Spirit and understand the love that we receive from God that goes way beyond any human understanding. We can only receive and understand the love of God by the Holy Spirit, human wisdom and human understanding will never be able to show and live out he love of God. His love only comes when we please God through having faith in Him and by hoping for His love working in us, and changing us before we receive all He has for us through His love. If we do not have the love of God then all we do will be meaningless. We may think all we are doing matters, but if we do not have the love of God in us, all we are doing in this life is meaningless. We can speak in tongues and it will mean nothing. We can have gifts of prophecy, can fathom all mysteries, have all knowledge and if we have not received love from God and have love for God ,all these things will mean nothing. We can have faith that can move mountains and not receive the love of God and we still will be nothing. We have to have faith in His love to receive His love which is the greatest love! Our faith is always expressed through the love we have for Him first because He first loved us by His gift of Jesus on the cross. Then He can express His greatest love through us for others. So first we must have faith to receive the love He has waiting for all of us and His love is the greatest! Today we can walk in faith in His love for us and throughout our lives. Our faith brings us His hope and His hope will never fail us to receive the love that surpasses all understanding! His love empowers us to overcome every hardship and sorrow we face! Our faith in His love grows every day through our relationship we have with Him into receiving many blessings in this life to share with others! Read 1 Corinthians 13.
