Good morning! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we are testing ourselves with God's definition of task.
Acts 20v24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.
God through Paul tells us what we may think, as Paul did, at one time in our lives what we thought was important is now nothing compare to testifying to the gospel of God's grace. Paul tells what He thought was important, all his task he had created for himself. Being a Jew and having a passion for God and persecuting the followers of the Way to their death, arresting both men and women, all these tasks were very important to him. He was thoroughly trained and educated in the law of the prophets and was very proud of who He had made himself to be. His life before knowing our Lord and Savior meant nothing to him compared to the task that Jesus gave him in spreading the gospel. When we receive the Holy Spirit and have faith in Him guiding us in all our ways, we will start thinking like Paul. We will be encouraging other brothers and sisters, reminding them of who we are, and when we need encouragement they will encourage us. We will have a great desire to speak the gospel of God's grace to everyone, believers and nonbelievers. We will have a desire to go on for hours talking about our Lord and Savior. We will want to go all over the world, but waiting patiently for the Holy Spirit to guide us where He wants us to go. Like Paul we will have a great desire to tell everyone! We will be serving the Lord with great humility and with tears, although we will be tested every turn by plots of others that want to humiliate us and keep us from going any further. We will still proclaim to everyone, whether they want to listen or not, they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus, and His love for them will save them! Like Paul we may have all kinds of task we have accomplished in our lives. Many task may give us a level of success in our own minds, our education, our experience, and our own knowledge. The spirit of pride is what Satan uses to defeat us but through having faith in Jesus Christ making us who we truly are, our humility in knowing we can do nothing without Him, gives us our true task in life! What task are we putting before the Lord, what are we not giving up so He can work through us with His plans and His future He has made for us? Are you to prideful, fearful, or doubtful in His power working through you? Do you worry about the cares of this world and choke His power in you, do you rely on your own natural ability to be sufficient enough for you, or do you rely on your own wisdom making your accomplishments? When we have faith in Jesus Christ making us who we are, the Holy Spirit works through us. His power and His task become our power and our task! We will be on our true task of completing God's work, He will be working through us and we will finish out our true life task by testifying to the gospel of God's grace in anything He gives us to do. Read Acts 20. I love everyone with the love God gives me for you!
