Good morning! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we are testing ourselves with God's definition of conscious.
1 Peter 2v19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.
When we read a statement like this our first reaction may be to work hard in making ourselves conscious of God. Through believing in Jesus Christ the lamb without blemish and defect, through Him we believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so our faith and hope are in God. Our faith and hope is not in us making ourselves who we are. It is through Faith in Jesus Christ that we receive grace. It is through faith in Him and His love for us that we can stand firm in our conscious because our conscious is new, it is the Holy Spirit, we are aliens and strangers of the world. We will abstain from sinful desires, which war against our soul. We will only through Jesus Christ by his gift of the Holy Spirit live good lives among the pagans (unbelievers) that, though they accuse us of doing wrong it will not effect who we are inside or out. They will see our good deeds and will be glorifying God on the day he returns because they to will be changed because His grace changed them through us. How many of us today retaliate against someone treating us badly? How many of us get angry and show our pride because it is us making us who we are? How many of us get our feelings hurt and want to lash out, slander, have bitterness because we are not conscious of God. We are not conscious because we can't be through our natural self. We are chosen by God because we have faith in His Son Jesus Christ not because we make ourselves conscious of God through our natural selves. It is by the gift of grace through faith we are chosen. His grace gives us consciousness of God by faith(1 Peter lv4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, v5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.) The faith that we have is proved genuine by our trails of many kinds. We will endure any suffering from people and circumstances because we are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for we are receiving the goal of our faith, the salvation of our souls. Are we living a life guarded by God's power through faith? Are we rejoicing because God's grace is being revealed through us when we are treated badly by others? The Holy Spirit of God living in us is what gives our consciousness of God. (Hebrews 9v14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!) If we are trying to make our own natural selves aware of who God is in our lives by our own doing, He is not serving through us. We who have been cleansed by the gifts of God live by faith in Him making us who we are, not by sight, or by works. How do we react to others? Do we retaliate? How do we react to circumstances in our lives? Have we received gifts from God, because our conscience has been cleansed from acts that lead to death, or are we still doing acts that lead to death? Read 1 Peter 1 and 2 and Hebrews 9. I love everyone with the love God gives me for you!!
