Good afternoon! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we are testing ourselves with God's definition of rescue.
Acts 26v17-18 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them v18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.
First we have to be rescued from Satan and the sin he has put in us by asking for forgiveness of our sins from our Lord Jesus Christ and be sanctified by faith in Him before Christ can rescue others through us. Just has Christ sent Paul and all the other disciples He sends us. We have to be sanctified and mature Christians by having faith in Jesus Christ before he sends us. We like Paul go down on our knees in humbleness and ask for forgiveness when we first meet Christ. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior he appoints us as His servant, His witness of who he is, and what he shows us and gives us of himself through the Holy Spirit. If we do not live a changed life then He has not appeared to us. If we are not rescuing others out of the darkness then he is not using us. His light always will shine in us if we have been sanctified by His light so others can see in the darkness. (Matthew 5v14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden) We do not make our own light, we do not make him to be what we want him to be, he calls us to be his servant, we do not call ourselves, or sanctify ourselves to be his servant. We can not hide the light, it is a city on a hill, it will be seen and bring others out of the darkness. We are only sanctified by faith in Him sanctifying us. We are freely giving ourselves to Him in faith out of the love we have for Him, saving us from (1 Thessalonians 4v3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified)Today we are living in a "religious" world sanctifying ourselves into his saints. If we are not rescuing we have not been rescued. We can not have one eye open and one eye closed. You can not live half way pleasing yourself and pleasing God. Through faith in Christ all can be changed, made whole and complete, from the darkness of Satan to the light of God! The Greek meaning for sanctified is purify, cleans, or renew the soul. When we have faith in Jesus Christ we will remain in his grace, being his servant, listening to what he tells us, and being His witness. We will be rescuing others that are in darkness into God's light of grace! This is God's will for our lives. We too will face people that oppose us from all walks of life. They too will say we are out of our minds. We will say plainly has Paul said, "I am speaking the truth and being reasonable." Like Paul we pray, short time or long-not only the one we are talking to but all who will listen to us today may become like we are. Are we rescuing others from the darkness today because He first rescued us because we believed in Him? Read Acts 26 and 1 Thessalonians 4.
