Good morning! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we are testing ourselves with God's definition of contrite.
Isaiah 57v15 For this is what the high and lofty One says- he who lives forever, whose name is Holy: "I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the sprit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Where we live inside, our true identity, has to do with who we are accepting and willing to live in us. If we do not ponder these things this means God is not living within us because a spiritual man judges all things, we see what God sees because we are one with the Father. ( 1 Corinthians 2v15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment.) Through faith in Jesus Christ we have the gift of grace through the Holy Spirit, the "new person" living inside us. The Holy Spirit gives us the mind of Christ, we do not instruct Him, he instructs us. We have a renewed mind giving us new direction. We no longer depend on our strength and ways to keep us from fainting in despair and discouragement. We know if we rely on our own strength, and our own wisdom we may not appear faint, everything may seem as though we are walking the right path but we will not have the peace God is giving us. We may have the peace the world gives but we do not have the peace God is so much wanting to give us. We who rely on ourselves for our salvation by using our own understanding, and our own righteousness by allowing ourselves to be the potter and not the clay. All the work we do will not be benefitting us because we are not glorifying Him in who He is making us, we are not allowing Him to use us being full of faith in our Savior, we are glorying ourselves by pleasing others. There are not many of us that want to tell God all is hopeless, and still there are others that live in hopelessness. First we have to be hopeless for Him to give us His hope, and His hope never fails. The word contrite means repent, dust,; knowing we are hopeless and made of dust without Him gives us faith in knowing He is our Savior. Those of us that receive Christ in faith in Him making us who we are have been revived with a new Spirit that gives us a new heart that renews our mind daily in the fullness of Him. If we think we can save ourselves by what we put above Him, all the idols that we make more important, including ourselves, God tells us to let them save us! If we are still suffering in hopelessness than he says we have not been raised up by His power through faith in His Son and His sacrifice for us. We have to believe in Him being our Savior before He can save us, and receive what He is offering us through His Son making us His children that He comforts, guides and restores. He gives us peace, a peace we have never known before because we are contrite, and lowly in Spirit but we do not stay there. He revives us, changes us, renews our mind to live on the Holy Mountain with Him and all the other contrite and lowly in Spirit He has revived. He may place us somewhere where we are the only one besides Him in the mountain. We still would rather be on the mountain with Him alone than with the whole world without Him. Where are you living, below, above, or on the mountain. We are never above Him choosing how we want to be used and we are never below Him if He has raised us up, we are one with Him and the Father by having faith in Him making us who we are, He is our Lord and through us He lives. (Galatians 2v20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and give himself for me.) Read Isaiah 57 and Galatians 2.
