Who has appointed you for works of service in the body of Christ?

The Holy Spirit and His gifts of Service

Holy Spirit and His gifts of the Spirit within ourselves, to work through us for others in building up the Church for works of service is what we are discussing tonight. We build up Christ in people not people themselves. We have to be careful of putting people the church body before Him. Only if we keep our eyes on Him and Him alone can He work through us for building up himself in them. Our faith in Him is how we receive Him, not by works, or by making our own works. We are who we are by God’s grace. Because He built us up through Himself and by Himself working through others, He now is working through us for building Himself up in others. We are invisible is why He is visible and able to do His work. Whether people see Him in us is the health of their eyes not ours.

His Service in the church – His service working through the church, meaning the church does not “work” for Christ as if we could do something for him, He works through us, we give ourselves to Him with a willing whole heart of love by faith in who He is our Lord and Savior. These definitions are from the Greek translation of the Bible, it tells us what they are intended to mean through God's word, not our definition.

Apostles – one sent forth with orders (specific purpose of starting a body of believers) from Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prophets – God’s spokesman, solemnly declares to men what he has received by revelation to the cause and kingdom of God for human salvation.

Evangelists – ( this is the general Greek term-a herald or messenger vested with public authority, who conveyed the official messages of kings, magistrates, princes, military commanders, or who gave a public summons or demand, and performed various other duties.) In the New Testament it means God's ambassador, and the herald or proclaimer of the divine word. (KJV uses the word preacher instead of herald which being a preacher means a herald. example: 1Timothy 2v7 and for this purpose I was appointed a herald (KJV preacher) and an apostle-I am telling the truth, I am not lying-and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

Teachers – by preeminence (highest rank) use of Jesus Christ himself, as one who showed men the way of salvation. This will be our first call I believe when we fully surrender. For our families first, then He will work His way out from our families toward a bigger territory. This is his first call when we hatefully surrendered to Him. He will give us the desire to do this first, which is why it says 1 Apostles, then Prophets, then evangelists and then teachers.

1Corinthians 12v27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. V28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking indifferent kinds of tongues.

"Now" means you are in Christ now, as before you were not reborn, meaning he is now within you growing, (group of people that makeup true followers of Christ) Not “a” church building, but the church of Christ, meaning universal. A group of people anywhere in the world that has these gifts of service given to them by our Lord. The question Paul asked us at the end of1 Corinthians 12 has two parts; are all apostles, prophets and teachers? The answer is no, because each church should be growing from weak in faith in Him, to full of faith in Him. We all will become an apostle as long as we stay closet Him in faith in Him making us who He wants us to be, while we grow in faith in Him our church should be growing because of His gifts of service He works through all of us for the building up of the church. If we are full of Him, we will be full of His word, we will be able to perform every good work, because He can perform every good work through us. He will send all of us somewhere to tell about His salvation.  Our fields are ripe and always ready for the harvest. It is the workers that have lost their faith in Him, is why He is not making more workers, we wants to desperately but our faith has been blocked by a number of reasons.(2 Timothy 4v16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work) We are the ones that hinder His power from working in us, He wants all to be sanctified, body, spirit and soul. (1 Thessalonians 5v23 May God himself, the God of peace sanctify you through and through. May your wholespirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ v24 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.)The measure He gives you of Himself will be coming out of you, you hinder his growth by not putting Him first by not showing you have faith in Him, his love and power than any other person or thing in this world. Some of us listen to the world and want to be more a part of it, than faith in Him. He is supposed to be always drawing us to Him but other things are drawing us away from Him. Unbelief in His power within us and unbelief in Him continually growing in us; is what Jesus wept over most. “I have been with you this long, and you still do not know who I am.” That is what should be hurting us most in ourselves and for others. We go through life not knowing who we are because we do not know Him, the great I am all you need to know yourself; God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
