Good morning! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we are discussing our troubled hearts. Matthew 26v38 Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.
Don't let your heart be troubled. We here these words from Jesus when our hearts are troubled. We begin to wonder how he must of felt the night he was taken to be crucified. He told us His spirit was troubled to the point of death, that is very troubled. I have been troubled to the point of death and tried to end my life because of the trouble in my heart that I felt many years ago before I knew my Savior and Father God. We often become so consumed by the cares of this world by our human nature not being able to with stand what lies ahead. Jesus knows our heart is going to be troubled but He does not want it to be troubled to the point that it over takes us into a sorrow that consumes us and we live out our lives with. What was the first thing He did? He told the disciples that loved and followed Him most to watch and pray while He prayed, and then He took James, Peter and John closer to Him. He wanted His disciples close to Him praying with Him. He was always showing us a desire we would follow, just like we will have a desire to want our closest followers of Christ praying with us in our troubles. He prayed in faith to His Father in Heaven and He knew not his will be done bu His Father will be done. My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me, if possible may my child be saved, if possible will you save my life from this terrible disease, yet not I will, but as you will. He was saying His faith in Him was full in assurance that His Father knew what was best fro Him because He knew He was His first born son of many to come. His Father restored His faith in Him giving Him all He needed of himself to handle the coming suffering His natural human nature could not handle but he knew He had to face and He rose to the occasion with His power of peace, confidence, self-control and strength He received from the grace His Father gave Him. His disciples than could not stay awake, their natural spirit was willing but their bodies were weak. After His resurrection through His gift of Himself the Holy Spirit was given to them, they could do what He did and much more because He was working through them. Today He works through us too! When Jesus tells us to watch, pray and stay awake, we can because His Spirit gives life to our bodies. We sow the Spirit of God with the Spirit of God that enables us to do all things because He does all things through us, we are His children, just has Christ was His to work through for His purpose. We get restored each time by His strength, peace, self-control and all of His gifts us himself when are troubled and He gives us what we need to overcome whatever we have to face and our lives given to Him for His purpose because we believe in who He says He is our Savior, Lord and Father!
