Good morning!! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we are testing ourselves if we each have received grace and how do we know if we have or not. Romans 5v17 For, by the trespass of one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
Before we begin discussing if we have received grace through God's proof if we have or not, let us receive from God the meaning of grace. When God describes Noah as finding grace in the eyes of the Lord this grace in the Hebrew language means favor and acceptance from God. The word is chen, sounds like (khane) is a noun. So grace is a person, place or thing. Which through Christ can be all three! Grace makes the place you walk Holy, grace makes the person in you grace, Jesus was and is grace, and grace is a thing that defines the person.
Compared to everyone else's imagination that had been taken over by evil thoughts continually Noah walked with God. This does not mean Noah did not mess up but when he did he repented and found favor with God and moved on not continually sinning and letting his imagination be taken over by sin but by the grace and favor of God, that is why God chose Him and His family.
In the New Testament the Greek translation through Jesus Christ could mean the same thing as in the Hebrew language. Grace turned Noah into keeping God's favor instead of letting sin master Him. God's grace kept Him from turning to sin just as it does for us through His Son, we have the dwelling Spirit of grace living within us at all times. The word in the Greek language is Khar'-ece Charis it is also a noun- the definition is God's grace upon souls turns them to Christ, keeps them, strengthens them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection and kindles them to the exercise of Christian virtues that is due to grace.
Grace is a gift or a thing that makes things work better naturally. example: A machine can be very expensive but it's saving grace is that it works good and does not need many repairs. The word grace can be used in our natural good imagination as well. Her saving grace is her sense of humor that keeps her laughing in her natural sense of humor all of her life, that does not mean she knows the gift of God's grace which goes way beyond her natural sense of humor saving her.
Let us now test ourselves through God's definition of His grace and see if we have received God's abundant supply of grace that truly keeps us striving to be our true and perfect or complete selves. Jesus tells us through Him we can be as Him and His Father."Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect." Are we constantly turning more to Christ and giving Him the glory or are we giving our flesh or others more glory by lifting our flesh up? Are we prideful in our own wisdom and understanding or are we always striving to learn more by His supply of grace daily that urges us to always go beyond ourselves. Are we humble in accepting more truth, more wisdom and knowledge of who He is daily? Are we craving God's word because the power of grace is at work in us for knowing Him for His purpose not for our purpose of making him the god we want to follow our own way. Is His grace the only acceptance of ourselves we use to control us? Are we sinning less and less because the power of His acceptance and His favor increases our strength to say no to ungodliness. Grace gives us the power to persevere because He is working in us and making us strong in our weakness. For not I am strong but by His grace He is strong in me, and through me. For not I but by the grace of God living in me I can overcome.
How do we receive God's grace? By the faith He gives us in Him when we hear His words telling us who He is. When we hear he is here to save us from not having God's favor, acceptance and redemption that His saving grace gives through receiving Himself living in you. Grace is given to each and every person that receive's Him as their savior from themselves, the world and Satan. He save us from the broken spirit, from the identity of the sinner, the natural man. His grace gives us a new identity to follow our true identity, as we crucify our old one for His and for His sake and purpose. For the purpose of passing who He is to others so they may hear who He is and receive His faith so they may receive His abundant grace. Faith and grace go hand and hand they are gifts of Himself that travel within you up your path daily to Him.
Without His gift of faith you cannot receive His gift of grace. It will be another faith and another grace but it will not be His if He is not growing more in you with His desires of making Him known and you giving Him the glory not people, not yourself theses are the signs and the test He gives each one of us. Am I changing because He is changing me or am I changing but for other reasons and for other people because I am making myself or others good, joyful, and strong because I want the glory from them for myself?
Titus 2v11-15 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, up right and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
I am eager to do good by the grace of God, not by my own grace or by grace from others but by His grace through me and through others. If we today do not pass the grace receiving test that He gives each of us everyday. I beg you to turn to Him now and receive Him today by His gift of faith in receiving His grace today and do not let Him go so His grace and faith can continue to guard your heart and keep you on the path of receiving more and more of His grace that makes you into His image with His life and plans to prove His grace is at work in you. That gives you your true identity with your true life. It is Him that gives it to you freely provided that you remain in His grace as your Savior to please Him and not others or yourself.
I love you with all the grace He has given me for you to share with others, praise and glory go to my Savior that I die to everyday because I want to keep His amazing grace that saves me always and forever and you can too!
