What does it cost us to follow Christ?

Good morning, grace and peace to you in abundance from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today God revealed to me many who are being deceived and I must share with you what he has revealed to me as I always do because of His revelations that work in and through me for His purpose and for your benefit in revealing his purpose in you. We often hear the words, "There are two kinds of people". Some say, "There are the givers and the takers,"  and others may say, "There are the wise and foolish."

God says there are two kinds of people also. He says, "There is one who lives according to the sinful nature and one living according to the Holy Spirit of God. The man wanting to please their natural human nature will follow themselves, others and Satan and this false identity will lead all who follow that nature to destruction and the man who submits and accepts the  divine Spirit of truth leading them they will follow only Him our Lord in faith and deny all other things trying to separate them from God, including their own sinful nature this man will reap their true identity in Christ now and forever proving death has no power over them any longer.

Romans 8v4 In order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according the the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

What does it cost us to receive the Holy Spirit of God to lead us? It cost us everything in faith putting Him above all things! It cost us all of our human nature in what it desires above Him. Does this mean each person will give up the same things? No because some will not care about the same things being above Him. Each of us have different temptations. With our Lord's gift of faith and most real relationship comes to each person what they have to give up in themselves through each relationship and circumstances he gives them through their own growing journey in life. This is why Paul tells us each person should carry his own load, meaning his own load or his own cross of denying what ever they put above God. It could be our parents, children, money, accomplishments, our reputations, traditions, ethics, responsibilities, wisdom, understanding, or our own god, our own Jesus that we create for ourselves denying who he truly is.

Galatians 6v3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. v4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, v5 for each person should carry his own load.

Let us use some examples that God gives us through His understanding given to us through his word that test which one we are following and being led by, the Spirit of God and His nature or our natural human spirit and nature.

Luke 9v59 He said (Jesus) to another man, Follow me but the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father. Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God"

Many of us today try to add words to make this sound sugar coated instead of putting Him above all things when His words touch our hearts, we know where ever we go through our sacrificing ourselves our family will be taken care of because we do put Him first. He cares for us more than we can care for ourselves and others.  Jesus knew no one was living through him before his resurrection at this time and all were dead in sin when he told this man "let the dead bury their own dead" meaning you proclaim who I am to the world so death will not reign in their lives or yours and they can be a part of a new Kingdom. Through His gift of faith we can venture out of our comfort zones that we see in traditions, and devotions and loyalties above Him and know He will show others through us we truly have received the revelation we live forever through following His nature the Holy Spirit and the dead in sin will become a live in Christ through His Holy Spirit.

Still another said, "I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-by to my family." Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God."

When we begin to want to follow Christ we have a tendency to go back and join our "old world" of comfort and leave what He has given us of Himself. Persecution, loneliness, and discouragement  may creep into our minds because we are leaving behind what was once comfortable to us, not because it was good and pleasing to us but it was something we knew, could see, and had many more to follow. The plow to me is the cross, can you imagine if Christ turned back and accepted other relationships above His Fathers, before pleasing His Father and not wanting to grow in His relationship above all others and not doing His will in His life? Wonder if he said, "Wait I have to go back and see my mother and brothers before I do what you want, they do not believe you sent me" Wait I have to take care of my mother and please her before I do your will." Each step Jesus took was to the cross and he never wavered from that purpose as we who follow Christ never waver from His relationship being the most important or look back wanting to be who we were before, comfortable with the world's acceptance.  This does not always mean we have to leave our families physically but we have to leave them spiritually putting Him above all things  filling up the need of our souls, where he takes us and how he uses us we do not know. Where ever we lay our heads it is comfortable.

Matthew 19v21 Jesus answered. "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me. When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

The most important words here in this asking from our Lord to follow Him is, "he went away sad".It was not his wealth that made Him not be able to follow Jesus it was his sadness of having to give up his wealth that he was not able to follow Jesus. When we receive our Lord as our Savior we receive the understanding our wealth is given to us to share in helping others not for our own use and gain in the world. This is how we store up treasure in Heaven. We can have pleasures from this world but they must not bring us more joy than our Lord in what He has given us within ourselves to share with others through his word and his deeds doing His will for our lives, giving Him all glory and praise in our giving through grace. This way we will not be to rich and have to much and others will not have to less and be to poor. We will be balancing out our world with the resources our Father gives us. This could be someone in your family, across the street, or someone around the world. This depends on the resources and opportunities he gives each of us to share. This may require us to wait on the Lord and while we are waiting we are growing in faith, hope and love and all of His gifts of himself through each ability and task he gives each of us. Those who wait on the Lord will be blessed and reap a good harvest if we do not give up.

Mark 10v27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." v28 Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!"

Of course at the time Peter had no idea what it took to follow Jesus until He received the Holy Spirit that reveals our new heart of love it takes to follow Him. Jesus went on and told Peter what it would be like when Peter truly did follow through receiving His Holy Spirit to teach Him all truth about Peter's true nature separating Him from his false sinful nature. Through following the Holy Spirit within us we will put all other relationships and circumstances below Him because when we receive Him, He has a huge effect on us!! There is no question of who and what nature we follow!!!

v29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or fathers or children or fields for me and the gospel v 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields-and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

O course we do not follow because of the many blessings we receive, we follow because of what we receive of Him through His grace, peace, and love that guards our new heart in this world into the next what ever else we receive is a result of Him in who He is in fulling His promises to His people because He is our God!

Many prayers,
Vicki Gann
