Why do we need Christ?

Good afternoon, grace and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Yesterday I began having an interesting conversation with a good friend of mine. We both claim we are Christians and discuss our Lord often through His word. We do not have a unity in our way of thinking often and I began to be very perplexed about why she calls Him Lord if He does not have authority over her life. She believes she has to choose from right and wrong every choice she makes. IF that was the case why do we need Christ if we can make those choices our selves.

Some of us today believe he cleanses us from sin and then leaves everything else up to us to make the right choices. If we mess up, we are forgiven, if we get it right we are blessed. Some of us live as though we do not need Him to make us right within ourselves after we have given our lives to Him. We are finished and done. Some think we continue to work on ourselves by making the right choices in life on our own. This gives us human beings to much credit for what He can only do.

This is why many of us today are still lacking peace, guidance, and true love for human kind because we are not giving Him glory for it. Many people are comparing each other, live with jealousy, and hold their positions and education over people. Many of us think leadership is a position to be served, instead of a position of service in His church, in the world and in the family. We have made us gods of our own families, our own business, our own countries and our own churches. Many of us are putting God to work for ourselves instead of us letting Him work His goodness and Holiness in and through us. Most of us take ownership of ourselves and are very proud of it. Making our own kind of love and our own goodness be enough for us. It might sound great to mankind but it does not sound great to God.

2 Corinthians 1:21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Most of us today use God for our purpose, for our plan, for our needs more than He uses us for His purpose and plan.  He is the only truth within ourselves and in the world for us to truly live right with His plan and purpose for each of us. Why is it so hard for us to say, "God controls me" this is why Christ came to cleanse us from our sinful nature by accepting His divine nature. That means He gives us freedom from us making our choices because of what He gives us of Himself. We give Him all rights to our self by accepting His Spirit to mold and guide us the direction He wants us to go.He gives us new desires to live by, a new heart that He moves to keep His decrees, and he gives us a heart to carefully follow him. He gives us a heart of discernment so we can discern what spirits are evil. He gives us all we need within ourselves to live upright, and Holy lives that will complete each person. We as human beings do not want to surrender, that is the last thing we want to do, but it is necessary to receive His Spirit filled life He has for you. We have to put all other things below Him. That means our friends, family, education, our positions, our jobs, our pride, jealousy, goodness, and yes our man made churches and denominations.

Romans 8:6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace: the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

Through Him and His Spirit we can test every spirit within ourselves and within others. He works in and through us for His purpose. When we are in Christ, we are our Father's  to use any way he chooses, we are His to love the way He wants to love; through his discipline or through his blessing. We are his to love  any way he wants to love others through us;  through his word or his deeds. We are His to show His goodness and power any way he chooses, in sickness and in health, in life and in death, and in wealth and in poverty. We belong to Christ, if He is our Lord.  I am controlled by His Spirit and what His Spirit desires. How do we know when we are controlled by His Spirit.

God gives us many gifts to let us know His Spirit is in us. We have a new nature and attitude from the fruits of His Spirit, we also have life given to our bodies in a way we have never experienced before. By the power from His Spirit we can experience it through our bodies. We are healed by His power, and we are given more strength within ourselves.

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

We also will have His faith, the same faith Christ had, that takes all fear away. We will not be afraid of the cares of this life, the opinion of others, nor will we be afraid of death because He came for us to know Him as our true Father and for us to be His first fruits of his true Holy Son. This is the image He created for us before the creation of the world. Only through Christ we have full knowledge of God and who our Father is because through Christ we are His Holy children. All of this is why we need Him, because through all He gives us of Himself we will truly be a child of God here on earth and forever with Him.

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive a Spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship, and by Him we cry "Abba" ,( Aramaic for Father) Father.
