My Blog

Are you leaning on your own understanding?

Good afternoon, grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I began sharing a question God gave me for all of us to answer last week. The question was, "If you were leaving this world and God gave you one last breath to speak your last sentence to your loved one's, what would you say?"

I went on social media through Facebook and to the public in person to ask this question. Now I am asking you through my blog. I would like to share some of the answers I received with you along with my own.

One person told me they would tell their loved ones they loved them with their last breath. We discussed this with each other through God's understanding to see if it matched  the way he thought. First I said to this person, "God never wanted the love of man to man to be most important to man he wanted His love to be the most important so man would know how to love man; his perfect way.

We came to the conclusion if we told our loved one this that would make them feel our love, but what about His. We thought it would make the person miss us more if they concentrated on our love because they would not be  receiving it personally any longer because we would be gone. As if those behind would be saying as our loved one leaves, "She or He loved me but they are gone now, what love do I have?"Who is going to fulfill this absence?" Would this type of love, our human natural love, be the answer for them to live by for eternity?" Would my love for my loved ones save them, would it be enough for them to live for eternity? We came to the conclusion that this was not the understanding of God, we were leaning more on our understanding with this comment. "What kind of love would benefit them more in knowing?" we said to each other. We both said with great joy, "The love of God of course!" So our new answer through God's understanding we received was, "Do not worry or weep about me I am with God, you seek or continue to seek the love of God and do not give up until you find it"!

We received a great deal from God through this statement for our loved one's. First our focus was off of us and on him and them. We would be showing what his faith has done for us by having no fear of death through the words, "Do not worry or weep for me" Jesus said these same words to people as he was carrying the cross.

Luke 23:28 Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
v31 For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?

Jesus wanted their focus to be on God our Father because he knew the suffering they would have in life. Jesus told them if men do to him what  they did when the tree is green what will happen when it is dry? Meaning look to God now and His love for you now do not wait when you will not be able to have Him!

These statements give us His understanding of His power and love He has for us and we can have for Him above all things now. He will take our suffering away when we loose our loved ones as we know the love of God fulfills what ever in us is absent. He will prepare you now from the gift of Himself for all the suffering you will have in your future!

Another person's answer with their last breath was, "reflect Jesus." We began discussing this understanding and seeing if it matched up with what God was revealing to us through His understanding. We both told each other it sounded good. Jesus was a part of their answer. Then I asked the person, "Did Jesus ever tell us to reflect Him?"

John 6:28
We both looked at what Jesus said to the people that ask him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent".
This understanding from God reveals God gives us our belief, that is  his work that he puts in us not that we work for it, or that we can reflect it, it tells us he does by the gift of Himself. We will believe in Jesus because of what He gives us of Himself.

He Himself is the bread of life we live by. He Himself is our faith we live by, our comfort we live by, our peace we live by, our joy we live by, we are free from working to reflect Him, He does it for us when we surrender to Him as our Lord and Savior.

Another important instruction from Jesus that we listen to that gives us His understanding is, Matthew 11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and y burden is light.

The understanding we receive from this is not Jesus telling us to reflect Him,that is His job not ours! He is telling us to come to Him and He will give us rest in making ourselves good, and Holy, one with the Father. He chooses us because we go to Him and give Him all of ourselves. He carry's our load on his power and grace it is light for us we are free from making ourselves reflect something we are not ever going to be able too!

We began to receive God's understanding and not rely on our own. Our new answer with our last breath was, "Go to God and continue to surrender all to Him and He will give you rest for your souls.

We understood as you grow in Him, you are free in Christ Jesus and you will have no heavy burden because he carries them for you as he reflects his life in and through you. Today as you answer this question look to Him the Spirit of God within and he will intercede for you the right answer for yourself to have peace and for your loved ones. Do not lean on your own understanding of who God is, lean on His and you will never go wrong. One of my dear and beloved friends actually used the proverb God gave her for her last answer which was the word he gave me for this blog to share with you. She said this would be her last statement:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We can see His wisdom and understanding we receive is always proven true through us acknowledging Him through this answer and not leaning on our own understanding. As he does with all of our questions in life, through our relationships and circumstances that come up. He will make our paths to Him straight into heaven and for those who are left behind! Thank you Father for all you give us in this life but most of all thank you for your son so that we know all comes from You!!!
