Good morning, grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we are going to discuss envy and what and who we are suppose to be envy of.
Romans 11:11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recover? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentles to make Israel envious.
All of Israel did not accept God's and his plan of salvation through Jesus Christ on the cross. To complete God's plan he made his salvation available to the whole world, the Gentles, in hoping it would make Israel envious. This plan does not only count for Israel but for all the lost that have not received the salvation of God through His ONE and only Holy Son. He is the only way to truly know God and live now rightly related to Him and receive eternal life. For those in the world who are lost because of unbelief, as some of Jews of Israel were, what should they be envious of? What in God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ would make them envious and us envious? A new car, a new house, or materiel things? Could it be someone's own personality, their laughter, or positive behavior. Could it be their moral goodness, or their fun they have in this life? Could it be because they have a family, and are married? Could it be because of their popularity, they have a lot of friends and people like them? Could it be because of their own accomplishments, education, and the jobs that they have? Could it be because they get to travel, and they have planned well for themselves? It it be because of their beauty and how well they are dressed?
Let us look at Jesus and see what He had or didn't have that would make us envious of receiving Him? Remember he is the same today as he was then. He had no sin, and he had no desire to sin. He was and is still perfect. He had a peace no human could ever understand. Nothing made him lie or latch out in pain over someone hurting him emotionally or physically. He told the truth and often ask us questions that revealed our truth of our sinful nature in order for Him to save us. He was full of love and grace that goes deeper than any human being had ever received. He was full of mercy and forgiveness for all who repented and received Him. He had thoughts and ways that went above all human thoughts and ways. He had a knowledge of God no one had ever experienced before that accompanied an authority and confidence that no one had ever heard before. He had wisdom that went above all basic principles of the world and human tradition. He crumbled every thought a man had before him. He healed people's body, soul and spirit with his touch, or from a person touching him. He healed humans whole body, spirit and soul with his word from close up to far away that had any illness, disease, or severe pain physically or emotionally. He never had the need for anything, he never worried nor had a heart that was not comforted instantly by God. He had a faith in His Father no human could ever experience nor had ever seen before. He never lacked anything that God did not provide for Him through His own power when He prayed to Him, or from his followers who willingly gave to him even when they did not fully understand who he was.
He did not have a house, nor a lot of money saved up for his retirement. He did not have social security or insurance on his life so he could pay for his funeral. He did not have the best clothes with gold embroidery and lashes as the well to do did in his day. He truly did not have any material possessions on earth that tied him down to any one place. His appearance was not any different than the ordinary common man. He had no formal education, he was a carpenter and worked with his hands. He would be a blue collar worker today. God tells us that when we receive Christ we will be saved by the fullness of Him, we will change and be reborn! We will be saved by that same power He had through receiving His Holy Spirit, the same spirit that raised Him from the dead will be living in you. No worries, no cares of this world, we will be overcomers just as He was! Is that something you could be envious of?
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power an authority. In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with circumcision done by the hands of men but with circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
The reason Jesus had all these supernatural powers and behaviors is because He was God in the flesh, and he was the word power of God. He also was a perfect human with no sinful nature, something none of us yet can understand totally until we totally receive Him as our Savior and Lord. When we accept Him by His gift of faith,we receive Him and all the fullness of Him in boldly form. Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you also will be cut off as the lost of Israel. If you do not persist in unbelief, you will be grafted in, God is able to graft you in again. God has bound all men over to disobedience so God will have mercy on them all. (read Romans 11)
Many Christian or God seekers today claim if we do the things Jesus did or think the way he thinks that makes us God and we cannot ever know what He knows. This type of thinking will hinder his working power working in and through them. This is not who we are or proclaiming to be as true children of God. We are His offspring and His children that He works through. He is who we worship, praise and give glory too from all that He has given us.He can decide at any time to take the power of His son away from us if we ever put ourselves above Him in worshiping ourselves as a god. This is not the same thing that Christ himself proclaimed for us, as we who are his will never proclaim for ourselves. He is our God, Savior, Lord and Father, who gets all of our glory and praise! He is our true beginning and true ending of our life! Jesus told us no slave of his will be greater than their master nor no student greater than him being their teacher, but we will be like Him!
Luke 6:40 A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
Matthew 10:24 "A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.
So today who and what are you envy of? Maybe not anything, maybe you are truly happy and full of peace where you are. But if you have any doubts in you living at your full potential of peace within than today is your day. I am and always will be envious of my Lord and His relationship with His Father. I want and wanted truly what he had when His love first touched me. For me all my envious needs were and are met through my Savior and His salvation He planned out for me. All my envious desires has been answered by His grace and all of what He gives me of Himself that I live out each day. If you are envious of Him in who he was on earth or the relationship he had with his Father than today is your day that you can experience for yourself what you are envious of!!! He is waiting to give you what you are thirsty for and what you are hungry for so you too can begin your true beginning of your life and have a perfect ending in seeing Him for eternity! You will be like the person he was and is for eternity! Praise Him and give Him all the glory which I know you will do if you are truly His!!!!
His peace and love always!
