Revenge; do you desire to get yours?

Good morning to all, grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Have you noticed, in this generation we live in, that more and more of society is promoting revenge? The movie, television, and music media today promote revenge more than I have noticed it in the past. It is easy for us to be drawn to this temptation and going in the wrong direction when we cave in to those temptations. I can't remember when it has been so strong in our media, as it is today; can you? There are so many movies, and television hits today that promote revenge, and I have been fans in the past myself for many of them. But Christ has awakened my heart, opened my eyes and has renewed my mind to a his way of thinking.

Protecting ourselves or loved ones is different than getting revenge from someone hurting a loved one, or ourselves. To walk away from that desire to hurt someone because they have hurt us is more wise and shows more strength than allowing that hatred and hurt grow in us to the point it makes us no different than the person that caused the hurt. Revenge never truly takes the hurt away it changes us going down a different path.

The only way we can have the strength to defeat this need in us is from receiving what Christ gives us during our temptation to follow this evil desire. His grace is sufficient enough for us to wait on God revenging us, to prove we are his and he protects us in many ways. He protects or own need for revenge by his gift of grace he gives us inside that kills the hurt and pain, and he also protects us by proving he gets revenge by paying back those that hurt us.

When we give him ourselves that means he gets all of our hurts and pains in life for him to bare, and he gives us comfort with his life giving Spirit and reassurance he will take care of them, his way, and his way is always best. He gives us the power to forgive through him forgiving us, and he also gives us the love to love our enemies, knowing they do not know who we know, or have been given what we have through our Lord Jesus Christ. We who are in Christ do not fight as the world fights, paying evil with evil. Through Christ his grace he gives us conquers all evil, it has no power over us.

Deuteronomy 32:35 It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slop; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them.

Today if we find ourselves supporting the sinful desires in us to get revenge for ourselves, remember Him our Savior and he will give us something greater than quenching our own desire for revenge, he will give us Himself that out weighs by far any other desire we may have. Then all of us will only desire more of Him! Let Him repair us, he is the only one that truly can, so we will receive more of Him! We will be giving him all the praise and glory for making us into our true image of him!!

Romans 13:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the Lord. On the contrary: If your enemy is hungry, feed him, If his thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

If Christ is in us, and we have given ourselves to him as Lord, then his thoughts and desires will be living in us and changing us, this is who we will be through his grace, proving who he is in us.  Who are we revealing we are today and everyday after, him in what he desires or us in what we desire?
His love and peace always!
