If we are Christian’s our families take on a different meaning to us as does everyone and everything else in the world. Jesus says Pagans love pagans but God’s love has a different motivation given by His Spirit and presents a whole different purpose than love between unbelievers. We no longer look upon anyone one else worldly, but through God’s divine eyes of saving grace, and wisdom. Our purpose in the world, and for the world takes on His meaning, and our families should be the first ones we share his living water with.
1 Timothy 5:8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
God gives us so many opportunities to pour out his living water on others, but often we neglect the closest ones He is revealing to us because we get wrapped up in our good works, accomplishments, church activities, and socializing. We get the “I want to be seen” by others mind set, and soon we have to be involved in everything, working harder and longer ours, and we neglect what is right in front of us without realizing it. Our biological, adopted, step, or foster sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, fathers, and mothers, should be our first priority when sharing his living water in any need they may have spiritually, physically or emotionally.
Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues, and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. So that you’re giving may be in secret. Then you’re Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
When we take on this mind set by faith in Him renewing the mind through His Spirit we begin to get our priorities in order, delegating His work in the church properly, and having “to be seen” in every work no longer has a hold on us. Our souls become freer in His presence because we are receiving His reward, and the needs of our family become more important to us as our faith grows deeper in Him giving us all we need, and not in ourselves.
We begin to receive more reward from His blessings of grace, assurance, peace and joy along with our family’s life growing closer to the Lord by his provision. You recognize your family have become one of your first priorities of sharing His relationship with. Your family has become your first “church” or body of believers that you want to share his work in and through you with. You will not neglect any sharing of His relationship with others because He will be giving you the time for all, in the right order!
Sharing His peace and love always!
