Good day to all, grace and peace from God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ.
What does the correct measure of salt give your food? Doesn’t it lighten up all the natural food flavors beyond what they would taste like without it? We need some salt in our food to make our bodies healthy, but not too much, and not too little. There are time we have used too much and our health is in jeopardy. I have tasted some food that taste very bland like card board with no life, but add a little salt and it taste great!
Jesus tells us He is the salt of the earth.
Matthew 4:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
Colossians 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
If you are led by the Spirit of God you can experience the change within yourself if he has altered your behaviors to the image of His. For example their might have been a time in your life you would have acted with harsh sarcasm, mocking someone, or making fun of them to the point your attitude may be a little too spicy. Like your food when you add too much pepper.
Proverbs 22:10 Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.
The word mocker means a person who ridicules by mimicry of action or speech; mimic in contempt. If you see yourself being this person, or God is revealing to you another person being this way you would like to help, you could always say to yourself or to another person, “Jesus is the salt of the earth, I believe I am, or you are using too much cyan pepper.”
Another example might have been a time when you my have snapped at someone without self-control, and when we are lead and being led by the Spirit self-control and discipline is something His Spirit gives us. In this case you may have used to much cyan pepper.
Proverbs 22:24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered. Or you may lean his ways and get yourself ensnared.
Then there is another time we may have experienced bitterness, resentment toward someone because they don’t think and like the same things you like. Then you would be using too much salt.
Romans 3:14 their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness, their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.
Still another time you and I may have been, or are being now too sweet and no change in us, and no change in the other people around us will occur, we may be more concerned with pleasing ourselves and others more than God.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men, but God, who tests our hearts. You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed-God is our witness. We were not looking for praise from men, not form you or anyone else.
If we see our behaviors being examples of using to much pepper, cyan pepper, salt, or sugar by all these behaviors being revealed to us then we need to turn to Christ and repent. Receive His forgiveness and grace so you will be able be His salt of the earth allowing Him to speak when and how in His correct measure, so you can remain in his peace, guarded by His love, so others may be drawn to Him. He is the only "salt" that keeps it's saltiness and does not loose it's flavor!
His peace, and saltiness always!
