Is God shining His light in and through you like He wants?

We often hear about the “light” that shines in us, and through us at different times and ways in our lives. We all have a “light” or spirit that fills our soul that makes us different like snowflakes and stars. There is no other human being that shares our exact finger prints, or shares our exact DNA, and there is no one that shares the same spirit and soul that makes each of us different.
When we receive the life-giving Spirit of Jesus that dwells in us we receive His gift of knowledge that teaches us He is the “Light” of the world. We have a new “Light” that transforms us from within.
John 1:4-5 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
These words reveal to us through His Spirit our natural “Light” is not powerful enough to wipe out the darkness that is in us, and our darkness could not comprehend His light when he first came into the world. In our natural state, we cannot understand the Light of Jesus, we must receive His Spirit first, and to do that He had to be crucified and risen before we could receive His life or His “Light” could shine in and through us. Through His life or "Light" in us we do not have to stay in darkness any longer!!
John 1:10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.  He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural decent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
God reveals through His Spirit the understanding of these words a person is reborn when they receive Him. When a person receives, His life given Spirit from the Cross or His “Light” they are no longer only born from a natural decent but receive the life or light that gives them the right to become His children. Jesus explains this to Nicodemus, a Pharisee, in John 3 when he came to visit Jesus in the dark in fear he might be seen by the other Pharisees. This reveals to us that His light is much brighter, and a more powerful Light that overcomes the darkness than our own natural light or spirit does.

People are reborn by the Life-given Spirit or Light of Jesus when they receive Him and become spiritual children belonging to God, as Jesus was one with the Father we also become One with the Father has He was and is.  Have you received this new light or life within yourself? Have you experienced the transformation from His Light overcoming your light? Do you recognize His Spirit Lighting up in you past your natural human self, and beyond this world that seals His ownership of you as Him being your Heavenly Father and Lord over your life and you being His child willing to be taught by Him? What does His new Light or life do in us and through us in the world around us?
John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
First when we look at the words “This is the verdict” the NIV uses the word verdict, and the KJV uses the word “condemnation” in the place of verdict. The word verdict means judgement or conviction.

These words tell us the "Light" or life of Jesus exposes all truth in us, our darkness, and then those that love the truth come into the light and those that love darkness do not come into the light because they do not want their deeds exposed.

Those that love the truth come into the light and have no fear of their deed being exposed, they repent and begin walking in the light. The conviction from the Spirit is given by His light to save us not to condemn us, and it causes Godly sorrow that leads to repentance and a changed life. We then want to please Him because of what His life, or "Light" has revealed, and some of us want to remain in His light. The Greek word for verdict or condemnation is krisis, sounds like kree’-sis. It means separating, sundering, or to force apart, to show what is right or wrong, and to divide. His light exposes the darkness that is within them.
Let us study these words “Everyone who does evil hates the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
The NIV uses the word “exposed”, and KJV uses the word “reproved.” The Greek word is elegcho – sounds like el-eng’-kho. It means by conviction to bring to the light- to expose- or admonish. To help one another expose a lie and live by His truth.
Paul also tells us that the “Light” of Jesus in us not only exposes our sin but also the sin of others and we then are supposed to expose the falsehood they are living for their benefit because we use to live in darkness ourselves and know His life or light will help them overcome their darkness as it has overcome ours. This is how the light of His love works in us and through us for others, wanting to “light up” the whole world with His true light that overcomes all darkness.  Today when he exposes a lie in or through us many of us ignore His light and do not let His light shine for His purpose in exposing a lie as He wants because we are taught wrong or we have more fear of losing people than losing the life or Light of God. We do not want to expose what His light reveals.
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consist in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light become visible.
These words reveal to us through His light giving Spirit, the light of Jesus exposes the darkness, and truth in us, and his light or life in us exposes the truth in others so we can through Him save others from the darkness they are living in the same way His light saved us through someone else.  This is why He is called the “light” of the world. The world lives in darkness. He exposes the whole world in their darkness.

On the days I clean my house I turn on every light so all the dirt can be exposed, and gotten rid of. If I did not turn on all the lights I would miss some dirt and their would be some dirt left over that needed to be removed. God's light exposes all dirt or unclean spirits in us, and through us so we can remove them by all the power He gives us through His love and grace for one another.

These words also reveal to us His light shining through a person exposes those who love darkness and don’t come into the light, and exposes those who live by His truth and come into the light. The one who hates the light his deeds will be exposed as evil, and the one who love His light will embrace his truth, and all they do will plainly be seen are done through God and His given life, or Light of Jesus.
When we live in the Light as He is in the Light His light in and through us that shine does a lot for us and through us for others if we are following Him He will prove His light exposing and revealing things to us that go beyond our natural knowledge and understanding of ourselves as His light shined in and through us for others for all to benefit from. This is when persecution may occur because His light is exposing another persons darkness through a person in a way they have never seen before, but also all His work in and through others by His life, or "light" will be exposed as well.

This is Him exposing all truth through His Light or life He gives each person who receives Him. His light exposes the sinful nature in each person, and then when they repent His blood cleanses them of all darkness or our sinful nature. Sin then has no power over that person and they can walk in His Light. This happens to every child of God, as His light or life transforms them, and every day through a life of repentance or confessing their sins to Him when they commit them, they are able then to keep walking in the Light as He is in the light. They know this by His Light still remaining in them.
1 John 1:5 This the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light: in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus’, his Son, purifies us from every sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim, we have not sinned we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
God is giving us a lot of words to ponder in this passage about God’s Light of life in Jesus and what His life does in us, and how He exposes others who are walking in His light of life.
First there is no darkness at all in God or Jesus. There is darkness in all of us, and if we claim there is not that makes us out to be a liar. The darkness remains but His light over powers it when we repent as we have already been taught by God through His words we have already discussed. His light, Spirit, or life in us is more powerful and overcomes our darkness everyday if we remain in His light of truth, our darkness should be getting less and less not remaining the same or increasing. His light will always expose or convict us to save us so we can repent or confess to Him and be forgiven.
1 John 2:8 Yet I am writing you a new command; it’s truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shinning.
Second if a person claims to have fellowship with God through Jesus and are still walking in the darkness or living in sin they are lying and not walking in His truth. These words reveal the false prophets among us, and it may be us. These people that claim to have fellowship with Christ but are still living in darkness or sin are lying when they say they are having fellowship with God. God is telling us it is impossible to have fellowship with God and still live in darkness at the same time, or still live in sin at the same time.
Third, the only way we can have fellowship with one another is to walk in His light as He does through His light of truth and the blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin if we confess our sins. These are the brothers and sisters in Christ loving and encouraging one another through His light or life He has given each one of us. When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just keeping His Word of forgiveness and purifies us from all unrighteousness. When we confess, He gives us more light to overcome our darkness!
Let us look at some of these words and their meaning and see if we are experiencing the power of His life or “Light” in our own lives as He teaches us.
Walk – The Greek word is peripateo – sounds like per-ee-pat-eh’-o
It means to make one’s way, progress, to make due use of opportunities God gives
Hebrew for this word means – to live
Fellowship – Greek word is koinonia – sounds like koy-nohn-ee’-ah
It means association, communion, joint participation, to share what one has
Confess – The Greek word is homologeo – sounds like hom-ol-og-eh’-o
It means to profess or speak out freely to God or others, to admit or declare one’s self guilt of what one is accused of, an acknowledgement of His truth
Purify - NIV and cleanseth- KJV – Greek word katharizo- sounds like kath-ar-id’-zo
It means to make clean or cleanse
To free from defilement of sin and faults
To free from guilt
To purify from wickedness
To pronounce clean
When we look at these words and our own transformation through the Spirit we can testify when we walk or live in His light, and have fellowship with His light with one another, confessing our sins, we are purified by His blood of forgiveness and receive more light that overcomes our darkness and gives us His righteousness. Is His light working in you this way?
Jesus also tells His first disciples something else about His light He teaches all of us who have received him as His chosen disciples, his own reborn children. Matthew, Mark and Luke each have a record of this teaching through the Spirit of God.
Luke 8:16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. Therefore, consider carefully how you listen.  Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from Him.
This is one of our Lords most profound statements about the light of men He is. First he tells us not to keep His light hidden from the world, why? Because if a person keeps his light hidden nothing will be exposed and all will remain hidden, no change will occur, and his light will not spread across the world as He intended. How do we spread his light? By how we listen, not that we listen but “how” we listen. This word means in what way we listen. “Therefore consider carefully HOW you listen.”
How are we supposed to listen? By making sure our heart is pure seeking only Him and His righteousness, by unblocking our ears from any other voice, including our own, and the worlds ways and point of views. By blocking any other gospel, and god from our ears and only focusing on hearing what He wants us to hear; His plain truth. Present our ears and our hearts open to only  Him as pure virgins to His voice and no other. He will always expose the truth because that is who He is; the Spirit of truth and that is the type of worshipers our Father is seeking those that want to speak His truth.
John 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
Many people today have their ears set only on the good and ignore the bad, or sweep it under and rug and pretend it is not there. We must also remember our natural good is not God’s best, and he thinks our works, or our good is useless like dirty rags.  Others have their ears focused only on the bad and evil and do not see the good works of Jesus. Jesus and His ears was only focused on His Father revealing His truth about any spirit that was present within a person. This is the type of worshipers that know how to listen to God’s truth because they are focused only on the Father to reveal His truth in and through them for others.
Then He tells us those that have his light of truth or his life-given Spirit of truth will be given more to light up the world, and those who have none of His light or life-given Spirit what they think they have will be taken away from them. This means a person can gain more and more of Him as they learn how to listen to His truth, and this also means those who think they have His light what they have will be exposed as a falsehood and they will lose it. Nothing will remain hidden all will be disclosed and brought out into the open.
With all these words, He teaches us about His life, or Light in us that exposes things we have never seen in ourselves or others we should be lighting up the world as He did. I hope this help you realize His light or life in you and what He and His light was given to us for.  If you have not experienced His light or life giving Spirit working in you and through you in these ways, now you can begin letting His light shine in and through you as He wants and the world will be a brighter place for those who want to come into His light you are shining! Do not be afraid to let His light shine and expose all He wants it to expose for all to benefit from!

May His peace and Light shine in and through you always!

Everyone cannot be like God, but we can still continue his legacy through making disciples which he mandated his disciples to go and make disciples to all nations. A disciple simply means the person who trusts and seek the holiness of him in his daily life. Literally, you will call a disciple of Jesus if you know him every single detail of his true identity. He wants us not to be perfect but to obey his commandments given to all the people 2,000 years ago. We are just humans so we commit sins and imperfections, but the grace of God is still there providing us his guidance and protection. We have a conscience so let's be honest every time.
