Good afternoon everyone! I hope all is well with your souls, and if all is not well with your soul then I will tell you who to turn to so it can be, Jesus Christ our only LORD and Savior!
Today we are having a definition lesson. They are the definitions of the spirit of pride and all it's forms. Remember this is for me as much as it is for you. What I learn I pass on to you so all of us can benefit from our Lord.
Pride - Pride is a spirit that reflects our opinion of ourselves or others.
I am proud of my work, my strength, my wisdom, my accomplishments, my courage and I am proud of yours.
I am proud of my role as a sister, friend, co-worker, wife and mother.
I am proud of my children's work, their strength, and their wisdom as a brother or sister, friend, co-worker, wife, husband, and their views toward me being their parent. That is the up side of pride, and the lower side of pride is self-pity.
Self-pity examples: I am too evil for God to save me. My sins are too great for Him to forgive. I am to far gone for Him to bring me back. I am too sick for Him to heal. He is never going to forgive me. Where is my reward, and where is my blessings? When am I going to get something for all the good I have been doing? Why are all these bad things happening to me, doesn't He love me?
Daniel 4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise an exalt and glorify the King of Heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
Vain - Vain is a spirit that reflects what we think others should see in us.
example: I think people should recognize what I do and who I am. I think people should see Christ in me.
I think they should recognize what I know.
How dare everyone ignore me, don't they know who I am. Don't they know I am the teacher, preacher, and a child of God, how dare they treat me this way!
Psalm 127:1-2 Unless the Lord builds the house, it's builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late toiling for food to eat-for he grants sleep for those he loves.
I hope this study of words helped you as much as it did me. May you and I grow and be blessed together through them as our Lord intends.
